Science, Technology and War

Human beings, who once were cavemen, used tools or weapons made up of stones or bronze or iron to hunt, dig and cut something in the past. The same human being has become the master of modern civilization and is even able to challenge the nature. It has only been possible due to the development of science and technology.

Science is such a subject that explains the things happening in the world. First science gives us an idea, and then different experiments are carried out. If the experiments happen to be true, it gives birth to new technology. Therefore, technology is the way of putting scientific inventions or theories or discoveries into practical use in trade and industries.

Science in general, is the study of living and non-living things. It has no such field which is out of reach. Modern inventions like computer, TV, phone, jet, vehicle etc. have uplifted the standard human life and have made it much advanced. It has changed man into god providing a wonderful comfortable life.

Although man has progressed in every field- farming, education, transport or technology, he is always in panic. Unfortunately he has become the servant of science. He has to be afraid of his own inventions. We don’t know when the bombs or missiles may fall onto us; when the history of the Second World War repeats and when a single child becomes a victim of drugs.

Science Teachers Use New Technology to Make Science Fun

A special hands on Science and Technology workshop is coming to San Antonio, Texas. This workshop is for science teachers and designed for them to learn more about the new technologies that have came out that make science more hands on. Currently, Science programs have labs once and a while, but mostly consist of bookwork. By introducing science teachers to these new technologies, they are able to create more fun and interactive science lessons.

Science is supposed to be a hands on subject. The fact that schools are creating lesson plans ore around bookwork doesn’t help students fully understand the capabilities that science careers have to offer. When the teachers go to this Science and Technology workshop, this will give them more information to pass onto their students about the exciting things science careers have to offer. When teachers offer more labs and more hands on science training, it helps the students to learn better. Anything hands on is always better than bookwork. Of course, bookwork combined with labs is best. By adding technology to the labs, students are able to track data more efficiently and analyze it better.

When the teachers integrate the technology into the labs, students are amazing at how much more they can learn and track by having access to the science technology. The technology is said to enhance learning in chemistry, biology, physics, math, middle school science, physical science and earth science. It is so important for teachers to attend outside of school triaging and this Science and Technology Workshop is a great way to start.

Effective teachers are teachers that are constantly going out of their way to go above and beyond for their students. They are constantly attending trainings and seeking outside education to enhance their careers and give them tools to better their students and help learning be easier for them. No teacher likes to fail a student. They want their students to pay attention to what they are teaching, learn from them and score well on tests. Happy students in class create a healthy and thriving learning environment. Schools now a day lack the presence of effective teachers and it is so important for schools to hire great teachers. The union currently protects all the teachers who once were effective but have gotten lazy and are not anymore. How is this fair for the students?

Limits of Technology and the Limits of Science

In 1997, I managed to get a copy of the book “Limits to Growth”, which was published in 1972. I knew the basic ideas contained in this book, by reading about it in previous years, but there was a very important idea, which I did not expect to find it there, the idea did not receive the attention it deserves. It a warning from the authors (mostly technical scientists), from putting hope that the technological advances that can come in the future, may resolve the serious problems threatening the world.

Perhaps the reasons behind the neglect of this very important idea, were two reasons. First, it is a terrifying idea, all the hopes of saving civilization, centered on the ability of new technology to do the job, and the second reason is that the Club of Rome (the group who issued a book),did not give strong evidence to confirming it.

This idea is one of the most difficult philosophical questions, and it is central to the issue of the collapse of modern civilization probably the Club of Rome based their expectations on some simple assumptions, such as, the probability of failure to achieve the saving technological developments, in time, given the expected imminence of the collapse, but if we wanted this idea to be established on strong theoretical bases, it is inevitable to go into the depths of philosophy.

I do not want to go, in this book, in the depth of this difficult subject, but I will try to simplify the idea, so that the interested reader, would find the basis for researches.

Technology is the application of the laws of the theory in science, and therefore, if we want to answer the question: “What are the limits of technology?” We must first answer the question: “What are the limits of science?”

Scientists in the field of theoretical physicists were trying, for many decades, to reach a theory they call, “theory of all forces” or “theory of everything”, one of the famous scientists known for their dedication to this attempt, was Albert Einstein, these attempts means implicitly assume that there are limits to the theoretical knowledge, but theoretical physicists, did not often depend on philosophical basis to support this trend, and most of these attempts were established only on the personal perceptions of the possibility of achieving this ambitious goal. These attempts remain incomplete and the history of science gives us examples of the stages of previous science, where scientists thought they had already reached these final limits of science, maybe the most famous of these historical stages was the stage in the end of the nineteenth century. After the theory of Max well about the electromagnetic waves and before the explosion of the ideas of quantum and relativity, at the beginning of the twentieth century.

But philosophical thinking takes another course, the Dialectical materialism of the Marxism confirms that there are no limits to science, and in this trend it is followed by most modern philosophies.
